Amy Hinz Sweet's Experience:

  • Kennel Assistant at Country Hills Pet Hospital

I was brought in to set up a new boarding facility and to care for the pets who boarded. One other employee and I set up the new kennels and designed advertising. I increased our Facebook and Twitter presence and set up procedures and systems for the boarding operation. The focus of the practice shifted and boarding was no longer a priority so my expertise was no longer needed.

  • receptionist at Kewaskum Veterinary clinic

I was the receptionist at KVC, with duties including opening, closing, scheduling and confirming appointments, checking clients in and out, maintaining files, handling payments, checking online communications and responding accordingly, taking phone calls, processing end of the day, caring for boarders, and occasionally assisting the Doctors and technicians with minor procedures.

  • Pet Care Specialist at Big Valley Pet Resort

Big Valley Pet Resort is a pet boarding facility. I worked both the front desk and the kennels. In the kennel area I was successful at cleaning, walking dogs, supervising play yards, feeding, giving medications, doing laundry, assuring quality control, and seeing to the general comfort and well being of our guests. In the front desk position I made and confirmed reservations, handled check ins and check outs, dealt well with clients, answered phones, made grooming appointments, kept daily notes, cared for cats and exotic pets, kept computer information and charts up to date, created new client charts, oversaw medications and other special needs, and gave special attention to pets who were new and fearful. When a dog was frightened and others could not get close, they often called on me to help. My experience there was invaluable and extremely enjoyable. I expect I would have stayed there forever, but it was time to move back to where my family is, 2000 miles away.
